An excellent massage service is available at the Divers Village by Christine Mueni. Charges are 600 KSH for a 45 minutes full body massage. Excellent value – highly recommended.
- Topper sailing
There are several small topper sailing boats at 40 Thieves Beach Bar. Hourly or daily rental rates apply.
- Ngalawa (African canoe)
This is a very nice trip in a typical African sailing canoe, which will take you to the outer main reef on a low tide for snorkelling and sun bathing. Rates vary from 300–500 KSH per person. The trip will last between 3-4 hours. Organize
snorkelling equipment rental and boat reservations through Diani Marine office or book directly with Hamisi who is based at the Diani Marine beach entrance.
TIP: Organize a cool box from the Marine bar and sign for drinks on your room number.
- Half day bush tour
Includes a trip to a local African village, school, palm wine tasting, Mganga (African bush doctor) and snake park. Prices start from US $ 30 which includes lunch. Expect to tip the school kids and your Kenyan tour guide. Trip starts at
9 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon. Please make your reservations in Diani Marine office.
- Colobus Sanctuary
Is a charitable primate research sanctuary, which has been set up specifically for the conservation of the rare Angolan Colobus monkey, which are indigenous to Diani. Situated on the beach before Africana Sea Lodge (15 minutes walk from
Diani Marine). This is a very interesting project, which Diani Marine supports
and we recommend you to visit there.
- Safari Beach Sports Centre
Facilities available include air-conditioned gym, squash, tennis (flood lit), aerobics, step training, karate coaching and volleyball. Situated at the 5-star Safari Beach Hotel. Daily and weekly memberships are available for non-hotel guests.
Get there by taxi or matatu from Diani Marine (5 minutes).
- Shopping... Around Diani
There is one main shopping centre area in Diani located only 3 km from Diani Marine. You can get there by matatu or taxi. You will find many curio shops, bars,
restaurants, banks, taxi services and pharmacy. Prices are generally not fixed (even in the shops, except for the supermarket) and a 20% discount can normally be
made on a purchase depending on how hard you bargain and how much you are buying. Try MOIZ Boutique (situated at Diani Reef Hotel, take a taxi or matatu) for
competitive rates on local artefacts and kikoi's. The only cash point machine in Diani is situated at Barclays Bank. Forex rates are generally fixed,
change your money at Kenya Commercial Bank or Barclays. Current Barclays' exchange rates can be obtained from the Diani Marine office on an updated daily
basis.
TIP: Check the Prices in the shops before you bargain with local roadside or beach salesmen.
- Ukunda Market
Visit Ukunda open-air market and check the local township. Only 10 minutes from Diani by matatu or taxi. This can be organized from the Village reception.
- 1 Day Mombasa City Tour
Start with a tour of Fort Jesus built by the Portuguese in 1593 and visit the Fort Museum. Later, enjoy a walk through the Old Town towards the Old Dhow
Harbour. Driving around the island, you will feel the timeless atmosphere of this ancient Arab town, whose history dates back to the 13th century.
Now drive along the seafront and the harbour entrance, before continuing through the centre of Mombasa. Then you will visit the Bazaar with its colourful array of local fabrics, the Hindu Temple and the world-renowned landmark of Mombasa, the huge Elephant
Tusks on Moi Avenue. Finish off at Akamba woodcarvers, where magnificent carvings can be purchased.
